The 23rd Psalm by David reflects on the love of Jesus Christ. However, there is a high calling that we, as men of God, must strive to fulfill in our efforts to imitate Jesus Christ. Just as in the relationship between God the Father and Jesus Christ, love begins with the Father, then moves to Christ, and subsequently to us; likewise, in a family, love should start with the husband, then extend to the wife, and finally to the children. In man’s calling to imitate Christ, Psalm 23:1 begins, “My love is my shepherd; I have all that I need.” (Verses 1 - 2)

The Feast of Pentecost focuses on the next step in God’s plan of salvation, the giving of the Holy Spirit, which commemorates the receipt of God’s Holy Spirit—that essence, that earnest, that is a down payment on us becoming gods! Consider the conversation between Jesus Christ and the Jews as they celebrated a significant national holiday. This passage and their celebration are embedded with symbolism and evidence of the power of the Holy Spirit and our future as gods.
