Are We Special?
May 24, 2026
Brethren, are we special? Here on the Feast of Pentecost, we understand this day to picture those who are called to be spiritual firstfruits—a smaller, spiritual harvest that comes before the big one. Since we are called to be part of this smaller, spiritual harvest, does that make us special? Does it make us more special than family and friends, or colleagues at work who are not being called at this time? In my message today, I would like to talk about the “special” calling we have from God in this life. If you ever have a conversation about God’s plan of salvation with someone who struggles with the notion that some are called now and others aren’t, you might be accused of thinking you are more special than others. I believe there is both a “yes and “no” answer to the question: "Are we special?”
The Three C's

This message today is about Conviction, Commitment, and Courage, with special emphasis on the belief that if we are truly convicted in our calling to God’s Way of Life and His coming Kingdom, then commitment and courage will flow from that conviction.
Are Your Beliefs Preferences or Convictions?
June 13, 2026
Are your beliefs preferences or convictions? True Biblical conviction is more than a preference. A preference is something you prefer—something you hold onto until it becomes too costly. A conviction, on the other hand, is something you hold onto no matter what the cost. Let's look at a couple of examples today of men who knew what was right, believed it with moral certainty, and stood up for what was right in the face of intense pressure, suffering, and even loss of life. May each of us come to an understanding about ourselves—whether our religious beliefs are just something we prefer to have, or are they firmly held convictions that we will stand by, come what may?
